The idea of establishing an organization for Arab architects arose in Brighton in 1987 during the World Conference of Architects. This idea then came to light in 1990, when the Arab architects met, formed the Union of Arab Architects and elected the Engineer Maged Alkhulusi from (Egypt) as Secretary- General of this union.
During the meeting of the Federation of Arab Engineers in Morocco in 1991, Engineer Alkhulusi requested to create the Organization of Arab Architects within the Federation. Afterwards, he was required to elaborate the Organization Statute, which he presented during the meeting of the Federation of Arab Engineers held in Beirut, on June 14, 1993. Dr. Ghassan Tayara from (Syria) was assigned to review it.
The Statute was approved during the meeting held in Cairo on March 13, 1994. Later on, the President of the Organization and the Executive Committee were elected in Jordan during the meeting of the Federation of Arab Engineers.
